Cherry Picks From The Good Ol' Days Vol 1

As there was tonight a Hardin & York show from 1972 on BBC6 Live Music Hour I had this sentimental "Ah, where have all the good times gone" (in that Kinks mood) feeling - so I had to take a look at my archives of german TV broadcasts from those days, especially of "Beat! Beat! Beat!" (16 CDs on disc) and the famous "Beatclub" (only 3 shows from the very early days missing), where all those bands played live that gave us then a sense of the days to come ...

So I selected some tracks I really appreciated in those gone days to share that sentimental mood with you and hope you enjoy them as well as I did.

Hardin & York

01 Like A Rolling Stone, Freedom (Beat Club 1970)
02 Tomorrow Today (Beat Club 1971)
03 Cowboy (BBC London Theatre 1972)
04 Untitled Track (BBC London Theatre 1972)
05 Everyone I Know (BBC London Theatre 1972)

02 Crocodile Walk (Radio 1 Session 1965)
03 Bye Bye Bird (Radio 1 Session 1965)
04 Im Gonna Fight For You J.B. (Beat Club 1970)
05 with USA Union Band - My Pretty Girl (Beat Club 1971)

Keith Emerson

01 The Nice - America (Beat Club 1968)
02 The Nice - Hang On To A Dream (Beat Club 1968)

04 In Your Town (Beat Club 1972)
05 Pistol Slapper Blues (Beat Club 1972)

 The Monks

Maybe not that known in the States, the Monks were kind of
progressive Garage Rock / Krautrock Prototype
formed by some GIs on service in Germany

01 Complication (Beat Beat Beat 1968)
02 I Can't Get Over You (Beat Beat Beat 1968)
03 Cuckoo (Beat Beat Beat 1968)
04 Monk Chant (Beatclub 1968)
05 Oh, How To Do Now (Beatclub 1968)

 Julie Driscoll & Brian Auger

01 This Wheels On Fire (Beatclub 1968)
02 Save Me (Beatclub 1968)
03 Indian Ropeman (Beatclub 1969)
05 Road To Cairo  (Beatclub 1969)

UFO - Boogie For George (Beatclub 1970)

THIS! is UFO as I liked it with their first 3 records, the later
version as "The Scorpions Little Sister" may be more known but ...
hmmmm ... I prefer "Mark I" - as I prefer Mark I of Deep Purple,
before the invented Rock with "Deep Purple In Rock" because (to me!) "Deep Purple III" from 1969 will always be my favourite record by the band.

Hope you enjoyed the ride ;)
